STUDIOCHARLIE | Fragment of a Spiral
The rattan cane is removed from its normal contexts and manipulated into a mechanical structure. The resulting spiral’s tension is fixed with nylon rope and installed in a montre, generating an intriguing appearance that keeps the spectator waiting for a potential performance.
Fragment of a Spiral is produced in collaboration with Bonacina 1889.
Studiocharlie was founded in 2002 by Gabriele Rigamonti, Carla Scorda and Vittorio Turla. Its portfolio includes projects for renowned design brands such as Billiani 1911, Boffi, Bonacina 1889, De Padova, Lema, Nemo and Salvatori. In addition, the Italian studio works on editorial and cultural projects related to the theme of design. In 2018 Studiocharlie received the Compasso d’Oro Award and in 2004 earned an Honorable Mention at the XX Compasso d’Oro.
“Objects have the power to make us feel better or worse, to make our life more complicated or more fulfilled. We design objects that surprise via their essential quality and which reveal a precise thought beyond their simplicity.”
